CRETHIDEV is a Greek non-profit company aiming at research and development of action plans mainly on the fields of life-long learning, employment, sports, environmental protection and local development. The company establishes close cooperation with local and regional authorities, government authorities and business associations in order to promote innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable development through research projects and the raising of awareness in local communities towards available development projects. In this framework the company organizes and promotes studies and research projects, participates in European projects, cooperates with universities, companies, government authorities, technological centres and organizations, vocational training centres and business associations, focusing on the exchange of knowledge, technology and innovation. Through the exchange of knowledge and expertise, research and training collaborative projects and cooperation with its stakeholders, CRETHIDEV seeks to create a knowledge repository and facilitate the networking and cooperation efforts among authorities, organizations, business associations, on a local, regional, national, European, and international level. The members of CRETHIDEV come from different disciplines and have great experience on coordinating and implementing National, European and International projects of a wide spectrum. Although CRETHIDEV was founded in 2012, the company has participated in the development and implementation of more than 30 national and European projects (Erasmus+, Interreg MED, EEA Grants) as partner or leader, in close cooperation with Greek, European, Middle East, Central Asia and North African Universities and organizations. The organization endeavours, among others, to: (a) Promote innovative educational methods for the prevention and elimination of any kind of discrimination, exclusion and inequality, (b) Promote innovative activities that aim to combine the fields of education and vocational trainings, employability and entrepreneurship, and (c) Organize meetings, seminars, events and actions with the involvement of various stakeholders.CRETHIDEV participates in projects in the areas of skills development using blended learning approaches and promoting online training to address skills shortages and modernize business practices.

AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY OF ATHENS
The Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) is the first Higher Education School in Agriculture and the 3rd oldest university in Greece. Since 1920, contributes continuously to Greek and European primary sector development, by conducting basic and applied research and providing services in agricultural related sciences. Moreover, AUA is a fundamental partner of the European University for smart urban coastal Sustainability (EU CONEXUS). It is widely recognized as a vibrant centre of academic and research achievements, as well as an important collaborator of Greek and international institutes and stakeholders. AUA contributions address a wide range of issues related to sustainable food production, animal science, forestry, agriculture economics, preservation of natural resources, biotechnology and environmental protection. AUA has very strong links with the industry and stakeholders and provides extension services in agricultural cooperatives and individuals farms. AUA research funding schemes come from the private sector as well EU and Greek research projects. In particular, AUA the last 5 years has participated, as a leader or partner in over 55 EU projects (Horizon, Prima, Erasmus, etc) and over 150 national projects. The university as a stuff occupies approximately 710 persons (all paid) and 7700 students, thus a total number of 8400 members. The participating group belongs to the Animals Science Department and more specifically in the Laboratory of Animal Breeding and Husbandry. Research at AUA in the Animal Science Department aims to improve productivity, health and welfare, reproduction and management of farm animals. Scientific expertise includes farm animal hygiene, husbandry and nutrition, animal genetic improvement, biodiversity, farm economics and socio-economics, molecular genetics of livestock traits, farm animal biosecurity and epidemiology. The Department of Animal Science has research collaborations with other academic units of the University and other domestic institutions (e.g., Department of Biology, University of Athens) and outside Greece (e.g., University of Reading, Rowett Institute, Queen’s University in Belfast, Veterinary School of Hanover and LMU in Germany, University of Torino and Milan in Italy). The Department has developed contacts with cultural, social and economic groups, such as the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food, Local Governments, Public Welfare Institutions, private industry and producer associations. The Laboratory of Animal Breeding and Husbandry, has, in addition, an extended expertise in animal production systems, breeding and genetics, molecular biology, ethology, physiology of productive traits and quality of animal products. Finally, the department occupies 25 academic stuff and 15 persons working as administrative personnel.
